The failure was caused by the core switches in the data centres. They had no connection to each other, which meant that both data centres were no longer accessible. Our staff was able to resolve the problem with the help of our data centre operator.

We are now investigating the cause of the connection loss between the core switches and why this led to the failure of both data centres, despite the existing redundancy. In the next few days we will publish the results of the analysis as well as countermeasures to prevent this incident in the future.
